Festival da Nossa Terra

As the last grapes are coming in, the wine is fermenting, the cries of the swallows as they gather on telephone wires in the village still echo in our ears, the sweet aromas coming from wine cellars, the cool scents from the eucalyptus forests and the first mushrooms confirm the end of the summer ..."Saudades" to see friends, to celebrate the harvest and enjoy the good things in life.

For the 5th year we prepare for the FESTIVAL DA NOSSA TERRA: a charity event celebrating our terra, the earth we live on, our terra, the village of Gradil,  and our terra, the actual land we feel privileged enough to steward.

The theme is the wine, regional traditions and different cultures, expressed in music and national costums. We feel great support from "the locals" and also from a group of German friends, that actually were the driving force behind the Festival five years ago. Both these groups have grown and have proven a powerful mixture when it comes to partying, adding lots of character.

Culinary treats include hog roasts, wood oven baked bread, "Água Pé" with roasted chestnuts, the famous "Stone Soup" by Eduardo Zé and Ribeiro, "German Zwiebelkuchen", rice pudding, dirndl & lederhosen, folkloric dance groups in Portuguese costumes, entertainment for big and small, the excellent and entertaining Cotta's Club Jazz band, superb French Horn Quartet from the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Frankonians, Fires, Fun and Fandango!
