…which King Dom Luís (1838 - 1889), who was passionate about music, gave to a famous actress, the beautiful Dona Rosa Damasceno, with whom he had fallen in love, and where he had a theatre built, especially for her…

there was a old, romantic quinta…
… which many, many years later, (1969), came into the possession of Baron Gustav von Fürstenberg. He and his wife Paula lived in bliss raising their seven children in this small paradise, until the 1974 revolution changed their fate back to Germany. Miracolously, the Quinta was saved by a loyal family friend, Joaquim Val Morais and again years later (1992) was taken over by James, who had married one of the Barons' daughters, Ann. Now they focus on producing boutique wines, that reflect Mafra’s good taste – in the truest sense of the word, on top quality events, on welcoming holiday guests and last but ot least on raising their seven sons.
